All Departments/Colleges/Schools are encouraged to identify how prepared your team is to continue its key functions following, for example, a major earthquake. The Christchurch experience showed that it is difficult to communicate with staff following emergency events, and we cannot assume that we will be able to continue our business operations from our primary worksites, even after the main impact is over.
Now is a good time for Departments and Schools to review or develop telephone trees (or identify other ways of communicating with their staff following emergency events); for staff to update their emergency contact information under My Details in MyHR; and to develop and test business continuity plans.
Information on how to develop Business Continuity Plans is located on the Risk Management Webpages
