Bonnie Erickson was a key collaborator and member of the original design team for The Muppet Show. She created crowd favourites such as Miss Piggy, and Statler and Waldorf, and multiple other characters across a range of Jim Henson productions.
Bonnie will share her work across design and storytelling, discuss the impact of Jim Henson’s vision across puppetry, television, film, special effects and media technologies, and share insights from her time as Creative Director for the product division of The Jim Henson Company and Children's Television Workshop. Join us for a talk designed for young creatives from a veteran in her field.

Bonnie Erickson is a is a former Executive Director of The Jim Henson Legacy, key collaborator and member of the original design team for The Muppet Show. Bonnie first joined Jim Henson’s team as a costume designer for The Frog Prince, became head of the workshop and continued to work with the Muppets team for many years both in London and the United States.
Bonnie is credited as the designer and builder of Miss Piggy, Statler and Waldorf, the Newsman, and the caricatures of Jim Henson, Frank Oz and Jerry Nelson for the Country Trio. She then moved to become Creative Director of the Product Division of Children’s Television Workshop, a position which she held for thirteen years.
Bonnie Erickson is visiting New Zealand as a special guest of The Jim Henson Retrospectacle, a celebration of the legendary puppeteer Jim Henson, his legacy, his collaborators and his much-loved characters. Bonnie will appear in the Retrospectacle’s Behind the Seams events and panel discussions programme, and the Muppets, Music and Magic film fortnight at Embassy Theatre. www.thejimhensonretrospectacle.co.nz
