Murray Foreman, a Massey University alumnus and qualified accountant with more than 30 years’ experience in facilities and financial management, has been appointed as the University’s national facilities director.
He takes over from retiring director Gordon Whyte on September 19.
Mr Foreman completed the New Zealand Society of Accountants professional examinations at the former Wellington Polytechnic, which merged with Massey in 1999, and is currently the business and finance manager for the Office of the Assistant Vice-Chancellor Operations, International and University Registrar, Stuart Morriss.
Previous roles include Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade property acquisition manager, finance director for the landscaping and construction division of the large British company ISS Facility Services, and management roles at Telecom New Zealand (now Spark).
Mr Foreman says his current role has allowed him to develop an understanding of the institution’s facilities portfolio, as well as its systems and processes. Massey’s campuses cover 155 hectares with more than 450 structures and 420,000 square metres of floor area.
Mr Morriss says Mr Foreman is extremely well-placed to make a significant contribution to the University during the next stage of its development.
