Massey University has acquired the lease to a 160-bed accommodation complex located on Taranaki Street, adjacent to the University’s Wellington campus.

The complex, currently operating as Taranaki 217, will be used to house students studying at the campus from January, next year. It is expected the majority of students will be in their first year, however applications will be accepted from second-year students.

Wellington campus registrar Deanna Riach says accommodation halls play an important role in helping first year students transition into university life and she is delighted the campus is increasing its accommodation options. There has been increasing demand for accommodation for Wellington students in recent years.

Taranaki 217 comprises of 120 single and 20 twin-share rooms with ensuite, communal lounges and kitchens.

Massey has two other residential halls in Wellington available to students, The Cube, which is located opposite Taranaki 217, and partner hall, 222 Willis, in central Wellington. Both were oversubscribed at the start of this year.

Applications for accommodation next year must be submitted by October 1. More information about the new residential hall can be found here.
