Massey University’s Wellington campus throws its doors open to prospective students, family and friends on Friday for the annual Open Day.

From 9am till 3pm, students can sample the full university experience as staff from the five colleges represented on the campus provide lectures and practical demonstrations of the variety of subjects able to be studied.

Tours will be given of the nursing suite at the School of Nursing, accommodation facilities and new music and rehearsal facilities at the School of Music and Creative Media Production. Other facilities with the College of Creative Arts, including courses that can be studied at the School of Design, (ranging from fashion to textile to industrial and communication design) and the School of Art, will also be on show.

Careers in communication and degree programmes in journalism and marketing can also be explored, as can everything from expressive arts to speech and language therapy to emergency management, the latter with the Joint Centre for Disaster Research.

A health sciences trail has also been set up at the School of Sport, Exercise and Nutrition so prospective students can learn where a career in the health sciences can lead.

But it’s not all about the study. Open Day is also an opportunity for visitors to sample student and university life outside the lecture theatre. Communal areas such as the atrium/pyramid area and Tussock café will host music performances and various other activities to give visitors an enjoyable insight into life on Massey’s Wellington campus.
