Deputy Vice-Chancellor Operations Stuart Morriss hosted Ambassador Wu's visit to the College of Creative Arts. The Ambassador met with the Head of the School of Design Professor Brian Lucid and Head of the School of Art, Professor Huhana Smith. Her visit also included an inspection of new recording and production studios at the School of Music and Creative Media Production. The school features $18 million high-tech facilities such as a motion/performance capture studio with green screen, a dubbing theatre and screening room, edit suites, animation and digital video production suites and games labs.

Members of the school, part of the College of Creative Arts, have joined previous Massey delegations to China where the University enjoys strong bilateral relations.

The University’s connections now comprise more than 70 active agreements and collaborations with Chinese university and government agencies covering all areas of teaching, research and exchange activity.

In 2014 the college hosted the conferment by Massey University of an honorary doctorate in literature on China’s First Lady Madame Peng Liyuan in recognition of her international contributions to the performing arts, and health and education programmes.
