A small herd of cows have been moved to the embankment between the Marsden Lecture Theatre and the Library on the Manawatū campus.

The Massey herd was installed in the mid-1990s outside the College of Education and the Library on the University's former Hokowhitu site. After the site was sold in 2016, work began to transfer of all major sculptures to the Turitea site. This latest installation signals the successful completion of that work.

Created by Jeff Thomson, a well-known New Zealand artist, the cows are made from materials that resemble recycled roofing iron, which represent his unconventional and ironic approach to sculpture. Mr Thomson was commissioned last year to refurbish the cows.
