New head for Massey Information Technology Services

Massey University has appointed Lizzie Valentine as its new chief information officer and head of Information Technology Services, effective from March 26.

Massey University has appointed Lizzie Valentine as its new chief information officer and head of Information Technology Services, effective from March 26.

Ms Valentine has held several roles in the New Zealand education sector, including in tertiary education and corporate learning and development, ranging from chief executive officer of two industry training organisations to provision of consultancy and advice to the public and private sectors, as well as company directorships.

Most recently, Ms Valentine has consulted in the area of digital transformation in education for the Ministry of Education and for tertiary education providers. These assignments have all covered the strategy, engagement, business and change capability-building impacts of digital transformation.

She holds a Doctor of Information Technology (Queensland University of Technology, Australia), a Master of Business Administration (Henley Business School, England), and a Diploma of Business Studies (Training and Development) from Massey University.

She takes over from Alistair James who has been acting chief information officer for an extended period. During this time Mr James has overseen the delivery of some significant initiatives and many changes in both the information technology environment and Information Technology Services at Massey.
