Dairy 1

Dairy 1 bounds the Manawatu River. It is managed as a profitable, low input, sustainable pasture-based dairy farm with a Once-a-Day (OAD) milking, spring calving system. It is a collaborative ‘living research farm’ project.

Dairy4

The largest of Massey's dairy farms, research on Dairy 4 focuses on the extension of innovative pastoral dairy technology systems.  A seasonal supply dairy farm, it utilises a pasture-based production system. 

Tuapaka Farm

Tuapaka is divided into two blocks - a 111ha unit of predominantly flat ground (bulls from weaners to 18 months), and a hill unit of 365ha (bull beef system). Includes several windmills on the top hill country farm.

Keebles Farm

An intensive sheep and beef finishing unit, Keebles Farm includes a protected bush reserve considered to be one of the finest remaining examples of podocarp/broadleaf lowland forest in the Manawatu.

Haurongo Farm

Haurongo is managed as a profitable commercial mixed enterprise farm in conjunction with Keebles Farm. It is dominated by grazing replacement ewe hoggets and R1 and R2 dairy heifers.

Riverside Farm

Located in the Wairarapa region, Riverside hosts research into sheep and beef farming in summer dry areas. It has a total effective area of ~686ha.  

Deer Research Unit

The Deer Research Unit hosts quality research, teaching and extension in deer farming. It winters 100 breeding hinds (red deer).
