The Office of the Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International)
The Office comprises a small team of staff who:
-
provide advice and strategic planning on academic matters, including the development, implementation and oversight of policy, practice and related regulations;
-
coordinate and manage key national shared services providing support to teaching and learning at the University;
-
facilitate the internal approval and review processes for the academic portfolio of qualifications; and
-
represent the interests and concerns of the University nationally on the NZVCC Committee on University Academic Programmes (CUAP).
Staff in the Office apply their interdisciplinary expertise to issues and activities associated with academic quality improvement, academic approval, student achievement, staff development, blended and distance education, internationalisation, university-wide systems, and a variety of strategic analyses.
A particular feature of the functions and activities of the Office and its sections is to be transparent in communications with staff and students and responsive to their concerns while maintaining accountability to the long-term responsibilities of the University to act in the best interests of our goals and the public good.
