University Charter
The University's current Charter was approved by Council in September 2003. The Charter remains the University's foundation planning document and includes the following sections:
- Mission
- Special character
- Contribution to New Zealand's identity and economic, social and cultural development
- Research ethos
- Contribution to the tertiary education system as a whole
- Approach to collaboration with other tertiary organisations
- Approach to giving effect to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi
- Approach to meeting the needs of Pacific peoples
- Approach to meeting the educational needs of learners
- Approach to ensuring the organisation develops and supports a staff profile that reflects its mission and special character
- Governance and management structure
- Consultation in preparation of the charter
