International fee information

As an International Student, you need to carefully consider and plan for the cost of studying at Massey University. The fees differ according to the degree or qualification you wish to apply for and whether you study in New Zealand on a Massey University campus or from overseas by distance education. Fees must be paid before you start your programme of study.

Costs for study on-campus in New Zealand

These costs include your tuition fees, international student medical and travel insurance, accommodation and living costs in New Zealand.

Costs for Study by Distance Education from Overseas

These costs include your tuition fees and associated expenses for your programme of study. As a rule the cost of distance education for international students is 15% less than when studying on a Massey Campus in New Zealand. You will also need to take into account the cost of ensuring you have adequate internet access and any expenses for attending contact courses.

A range of scholarships and financial assistance packages are available to international students studying at Massey University.

International Students Changing to Permanent Residency

What do I need to supply if I gain  New Zealand residency or citizenship?

If you have gained a New Zealand resident class visa, you need to supply a verified copy of your resident class visa from your passport. Your letter from Immigration New Zealand advising your residency has been approved in principle will not be accepted.

If you have gained New Zealand citizenship, you need to supply a verified copy of the photo page of your New Zealand passport, or a copy of your New Zealand Citizenship Certificate.

What happens to my fees when I gain New Zealand residency?

Domestic fee is payable for a course

If you have been granted permanent residency on or before the start date of your course.

International fee is payable for a course

If you have been granted permanent residency and have commenced study in a course, and the course has passed the start date.

What fees are payable by New Zealand residents residing overseas?

 If you hold a resident class visa, you will pay international tuition fees and distance non-tuition fees if you study while residing overseas.  Citizens and permanent residents of Australiawill also pay international tuition fees and distance non-tuition fees if you study while residing overseas.

What fees are payable by New Zealand citizens residing overseas?

New Zealand citizens pay domestic tuition fees and distance non-tuition fees even while residing overseas.
