The DAAD (www.daad.de) is Germany's largest scholarship-awarding organisation and runs several programmes supporting academic exchange between Germany and all parts of the world. These programmes range from short-term exchanges for research or teaching purposes through to doctoral scholarships lasting several years.
The scholarships offered by the DAAD are awarded to advanced students, young higher education graduates, excellent scientists and academics from all disciplines. NO GERMAN LANGUAGE knowledge is required
Study Scholarships for Graduates of All Disciplines:
Graduates of all disciplines can apply for a scholarship to complete a postgraduate or Master's degree course at a German higher education institution and to gain a degree in Germany
Duration: 10 -24 months.
Application deadline: 1 September for a period beginning in April of the following year.
Research Grants for Doctoral Candidates, Young Academics and Scientists:
Young academics and scientists can apply for a scholarship to carry out a research project or a course of continuing education at a German university or non-university research institute.
Duration: 1 - 12 months, scholarships may be extended up to 24 months.
- Research grants for projects of up to six months: 30 September for research grants to run from February of the following year; 31 March for research grants to run from August.
- Research grants for projects of more than six months: 1 September.
Research Stays for University Academics and Scientists:
These grants and scholarships aim to provide academics and scientists working in higher education or at research institutes with an opportunity to carry out a research project at a state (public) or state-recognised higher education institution or non-university research institute in Germany.
Duration: 1- 3 months
Application deadlines: 30 September for grants to run from February of the following year, 31 March for grants to run from August.
