Purpose
The aim of the Massey University, Creative Arts International Excellence Scholarship (“the Scholarship”) is to support international undergraduate students to study at the College of Creative Arts Massey University. The Scholarship is open to students who have demonstrated academic excellence in Creative Arts subjects while studying in New Zealand or abroad. The Scholarship is tenable in any of the following College of Creative Arts programmes:

1.Bachelor of Design (Hons);
2.Bachelor of Fine Arts (Hons);
3.Bachelor of Maori Visual Arts;
4.Bachelor of Creative Media Production; and
5.Bachelor of Commercial Music, (“Approved Bachelor’s Programme”)

Scholarships will be competitive and based on academic and artistic merit. Each Scholarship is valued at NZD $20,000 for a 4-year degree or NZD $15,000 for a 3-year degree. The Scholarship will be applied in equal parts at the start of each academic year as a tuition reduction for that year, provided a Grade Point Average of 5.0 (a ‘B’ average) is maintained each year. Students must study full-time (at least 120 credits a year) in order to be eligible.

All recipients of the Massey University Creative Arts International Excellence Scholarship are guaranteed an offer of Halls of Residence accommodation, provided a complete accommodation application is received by the Accommodation Office no later than 1 October 2017.

Eligibility
Applicants must be either:

1.International full fee paying students who have completed at least one full year (i.e. Year 12) at a New Zealand secondary school and earned an NCEA Level 2 Certificate endorsed with Merit or Excellence AND Excellence in an at least one Art, Design, Technology or Music subject; International students at high school in another country, who have achieved a level of academic ‘excellence’ equivalent to that of the New Zealand education system;
2.International full fee paying students who will have completed a Foundation Studies (or Certificate of University Preparation) programme, and who have achieved a level of academic ‘excellence’ equivalent to that of the New Zealand education system; OR
3.International full fee paying students who have studied in an approved University Transfer Programme (“UTP”), and who have achieved a level of academic ‘excellence’ equivalent to that of the New Zealand education system.
4.As a guide, the expectation is a student will show high academic aptitude and also show excellence in at least one Art, Design, Music, Creative Media, or Technology subject. Scholarships are strictly awarded on merit.
5.Applicants must achieve University Entrance for New Zealand.
6.Applicants must meet the required English language requirement for entry into their selected academic programme.
7.Applicants must have received a Conditional Offer of Place in an Approved Bachelor Programme to be awarded the Scholarship.
8.Offers of the Scholarship to NCEA candidates are conditional upon the awardee earning a Merit or Excellence endorsement of their NCEA Level 3 Certificate.
9.Applicants who are already enrolled in an equivalent bachelor’s degree programme at another New Zealand Tertiary Education Provider at bachelor’s level, and who are seeking Advanced Standing or credit transfer, are ineligible for the Scholarship.

International Fees
-Applicants must remain full fee paying International students whilst studying in their approved Bachelor’s Programme in New Zealand throughout the duration of their study.
-The international rates for 2017 tuition fees are currently set between NZD $27,690 and NZD $33,680 per annum, depending on the programme undertaken and are subject to annual fee increases.
-In the event a student pays fees per semester, the Scholarship amount shall be applied in two equal amounts of NZD $2,500 per semester.

Term
1.Every scholarship shall be tenable at the College of Creative Arts, Massey University for a maximum of four years for a full time 4-year bachelor’s programme and three years for a full time 3-year bachelor’s programme and three years full time study for University Transfer and Pathway programmes. No deferrals beyond this period is permitted.

Tenure
1.The tenure of the Massey University Creative Arts International Excellence Scholarship shall commence at the start of semester one 2018.

Value
1.The value of the Massey University Creative Arts International Excellence Scholarship shall be NZD $20,000 for a 4-year degree or NZD $15,000 for a 3-year degree. For University Transfer and Pathway programmes, the value of the Scholarship is a maximum of NZD$5,000 per year.

Payments
1.The Scholarship is for a maximum of NZD $5,000 per year and will be applied in equal parts at the start of each academic year as a tuition reduction for that year, provided a Grade Point Average of 5.0 (a ‘B’ average) is maintained each year.

Conditions of Study
1.All Scholarship recipients are required to engage in full time study (at least 120 credits per year) in their chosen programme throughout the duration of their study.
2.A Grade Point Average of 5 (a ‘B’ average) must be maintained throughout the course of study in order to continue to hold the Massey University Creative Arts International Excellence Scholarship.
3.All recipients must inform the College of Creative Arts Massey University, as soon as possible, if an issue arises that will prevent them from complying with these regulations.
4.In the event a recipient withdraws from the approved programme, Massey University has the absolute discretion to determine whether all or any part of the Scholarship shall be refunded to Massey University.

Co-tenure
1.The Scholarship may be held in conjunction with other Scholarships, Bursaries or Awards, so long as those Scholarships, Bursaries or Awards permit co-tenure.
2.The Scholarship is not transferrable should the recipient withdraw from Massey University or change programmes to another College at Massey University.

Concessions
1.At the discretion of Massey University, the terms and conditions of the Scholarship may be modified in special circumstances or to avoid hardship to any recipient.

Applications
1.Application forms are available on Massey University’s College of Creative Arts website: https://creative.massey.ac.nz/scholarships
2.Applicants must provide their National Student Number (NSN), Cambridge International Exams number (CIE), International Baccalaureate (IB) or appropriate identification number for their respective qualification type.
3.A completed application must be received by 1 October for guaranteed on campus accommodation, and by 10 November 2017 for remaining applications (including those not requiring on campus accommodation).
4.Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
5.Applicants will be notified whether they have been awarded the Scholarship as soon as possible after the application deadline.
6.Scholarships will be awarded via a selection committee comprising College of Creative Arts faculty.

Admission
1.An offer of a Massey University Creative Arts International Excellence Scholarship is not an offer of admission to Massey University, nor does it imply approval of enrolment in a programme at Massey University.
