The Kitchener Memorial Scholarship Trust Act 1941 allows the Trustees of the Kitchener Memorial Scholarship Fund to offer scholarships to members of the Armed Forces or children of service people undertaking an agricultural course of study at a New Zealand university.
Scholarships are payable through the Scholarships Office of the university at which the scholar is enrolled. The value of the scholarships shall normally be $500.
The Act provides that applicants for the scholarships must be either:
1. past or present members of the Armed Forces or children of past or present members of the armed Forces who have seen active service and who, at the time of enlistment, were domiciled in New Zealand, whether actually resident therein or not;
2. past or present members of the Armed Forces or children of past or present members of the Armed Forces to whom the above does not apply;
3. person resident in New Zealand for a period of not less than three years immediately before the award of the scholarship.
These criteria will be applied in descending order of precedence.
Note: Given the restriction on available funds, the Trustees have not been in a position to make awards to persons under category 3 during the last five years. It is not expected that this situation will change.
Applications close with the Scholarships Office, Graduate Research School on 1 December. Further information is available from the NZVCC website: www.nzvcc.ac.nz
All applications received by Massey University are acknowledged by email.
