1.Applications are invited from 4th year Veterinary students for these annual scholarships to be awarded by the Otamatea Vet Club in Northland, trading as The Vet Centre.


2.Several scholarships are available for award, with a total of $5000 to be distributed amongst the scholarship winners.


3.Applications should include a covering letter, curriculum vitae, contact details (phone, email, address etc.), and name at least two people as referees.


4.Preference will be given to those who are not necessarily top academic students but who are interested in mixed clinical practice with an emphasis on production animal medicine.


5.Preference will also be given to students from our general practice area or at least from Northland, (please note this is not an essential requirement).


6.As part of receiving the scholarship successful applicants will be required to come and ‘see practice’ with our veterinarians for at least one week during their final year, at any of our four clinics.


7.A single winning applicant will be awarded $500 towards associated expenses when seeing practice and a further $2000 once they have seen practice with us.


8.The remaining $2500 will be distributed amongst other successful applicants at a minimum of $500 each to assist with any costs incurred seeing practice, to be awarded at the end of their first week with us.


9.An on-campus interview will be held within the fortnight following scholarship closure date to help determine who the above successful applicants are. Students required for interviews will be advised of the date, time & venue through the University Scholarship Office.


10.Applications and interview findings will be forwarded onto the management of the Otamatea Veterinary Club who will select the successful candidate(s). All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application.
