Applications are invited from students in their third and fourth years of the Bachelor of Veterinary Science degree to apply for one of three (up to) scholarships of $2,500 per year from Westland Veterinary Services Inc. (W.V.S.).

The successful applicant will be expected to:
1. Be available to 'see practice' with W.V.S. for two weeks of practical work at each of the W.V.S. contract practices (Greymouth and Hokitika) in the summer holiday break. Accommodation will be provided for the student while seeing practice.

2. Participate fully in clinical activity and contribute to the practice’s education and growth during the period of seeing practice.

The scholarship funds will be paid to the student while seeing practice.

Recipients of the W.V.S. Inc Grant are also eligible to apply for the W.V.S. Inc Scholarships.

The scholarship may be held concurrently with any other scholarship or award, provided W.V.S. Inc Executive Committee does not consider this to constitute a conflict of interest.

If a recipient of the W.V.S. Inc scholarship should accept a position as a new graduate, at either of the contract practices, they will receive a $2,500 relocation allowance.

Applications for the W.V.S. Inc. scholarship shall be made in writing no later than 30 September, stating why the applicant wishes to pursue a career in a rural practice and should include a current Curriculum Vitae, contact details, academic results and name at least two referees.

Applications close with the Scholarships Office, Graduate Research School, Courtyard Complex 30 September.

Applications will be forwarded to the executive of W.V.S. Inc. The contract practices may select students whom they wish to shortlist and interview in conjunction with the executive of W.V.S. Inc. From this they will select the successful candidate. All applicants will be notified of the results of their application.

Applications must be stapled in the top left hand corner, please do NOT present these in a folder of any type.

All applications are acknowledged by email.

PLEASE NOTE: applications are not available until approximately one month prior to the closing date.
