SYD BODMIN CHARITABLE TRUST SCHOLARSHIP for students undertaking the CERTIFICATE in AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERING Via Massey University.
This scholarship was established by the Bodmin Charitable Trust Board to commemorate the late Syd Bodmin, a Morrinsville dairy farmer and inventor of the Bodmin milking system.
Conditions of Scholarship:
The Syd Bodmin Charitable Trust will pay $1,100.00 annually towards the tuition and other costs for the scholarship recipient to undertake study in the Certificate in Agricultural Engineering offered by Massey University.
1.Be employed by a Member of the NZ Milking & Pumping Trade Association (NZMPTA), an Associate Member of NZMPTA or a Member of the Register of Milking Machine Testers.
2.Have financial constraints which could otherwise preclude them from entering the course.
3.Sign a bond to repay the Scholarship, on a pro-rata basis, if they leave the industry within 3 years of completing the Certificate in Agricultural Engineering.
4.Have their third year course of study approved by the NZMPTA Council. The third year project must:
(i)Utilise training from years 1 & 2
(ii)Demonstrate planning and project management aspects
(iii)Have practical significance to the Industry
Recipients employed by MPTA members who install milking machines or water systems as their project will be automatically approved.
5.Have a good command of the English language. Details may be required of applicant's ability to speak, read and write English.
A Selection Committee consisting of the Professor of Agricultural Engineering at Massey University, the Executive Officer of the NZMPTA, and one Council member of the NZMPTA will access applications and award the scholarship at their discretion. In the event of there being no suitable candidates in any year, the Selection Committee may recommend that no Scholarship be awarded.
The scholarship revenue of $1,100.00 per annum will be paid directly to Massey University by the Syd Bodmin Charitable Trust.
Applications must be made on the official application form and forwarded to the NZMPTA Executive Officer by the 1st October proceeding the first intended year of study.
