ENERGY EDUCATION TRUST UNDERGRADUATE & HONOURS SCHOLARSHIP
The Energy Education Trust Undergraduate Scholarship was established by the Energy Education Trust of New Zealand to assist students to undertake full-time study in the fields of science, economics or engineering and related fields but with a specific interest in energy as it relates to the energy needs of New Zealand. 1.The Scholarship shall be known as the Energy Education Trust Undergraduate & Honours Scholarship.
2.The purpose of the award is to assist students to undertake full-time study in the fields of science, economics or engineering and related fields with specific interest in the energy needs of New Zealand at Massey University. Applicants are expected to be enrolled full-time in their courses.
3.Applicants can be enrolled at any level between (and including) first and honours year of university study.
4.Candidates for the award must be citizens or permanent residents of New Zealand.
5.The basis of selection will be the applicant’s academic results with consideration also given to the student’s demonstrated interest in energy, future study and employment plans, the desire to succeed and community involvement.
6.Short-listed candidates may be required to attend an interview with the preliminary Selection Panel.
The preliminary Selection Panel will be comprised of two representatives of the Trust, and a member of the University’s Scholarships Committee or nominee. Up to eight candidates may be recommended to the National Selection Committee. Nominated candidates will be required to attend an interview.
7.The National Selection Committee shall comprise two trustees of the Energy Education Trust of New Zealand.
8.The Scholarship shall be awarded each year by the Scholarships Committee, on behalf of the Academic Board, on the recommendation of the National Selection Committee.
9.The value of the Scholarship will be $5,000 for one year, although recipients may apply for the scholarship in subsequent years.
10.It is expected that the Scholarship will be used to defray course-related expenses.
11.The Scholarship will be paid in two equal instalments; one in each semester.
12.The Scholarship may be held together with any other award, unless the conditions of the other preclude this
13.The offer of a Scholarship must be accepted by the date indicated in the letter of offer. If a candidate declines a Scholarship, or does not take it up, the National Selection Committee may offer the Scholarship to another person.
14.By accepting a Scholarship, the recipient agrees to participate in any publicity concerning the Scholarship arranged by the sponsor and/or Massey University.
15.The Scholarships Committee may terminate a Scholarship at any time and recoup any funds disbursed if it is not satisfied that the holder is following the required programme in an appropriate manner or otherwise complying with the conditions governing the Scholarship. The holder of a Scholarship shall have the right to appeal to the Academic Board against any decision to terminate an award.
16.The due date for applications is 31 March annually.
