This is an annual discretionary grant of $5,000 to be made to a veterinary student at the beginning of their fourth year. This grant has been set up to stimulate an awareness and interest in rural large animal practice.

The Directors of the Bush Southern Hawkes Bay District Veterinary Club and a representative from the participating practice will select the successful applicant. The successful applicant will be notified by the end of the second term of the applicant’s fourth year.

The participating practices, Tararua Veterinary Services Limited in Pahiatua and Veterinary Services Dannevirke Limited in Dannevirke alternate hosting; uneven years Dannevirke / even years Pahiatua.

The successful applicant will be expected to:

1.Be available to “see practice” with the designated participating practice for two weeks in November/December at the end of the fourth year
2.Be available to “see practice” with the designated participating practice for two weeks in the Spring of the final year.

The Club will pay the Grant as follows:

•$2,500 upon awarding the Grant
•$2,500 in the following March

Accommodation could be available if required.

Please provide a personal statement and a full curriculum vitae with the names and addresses of two referees.
