Summer Scholarships 2018/2019
The Institute of Fundamental Sciences will provide up to eight Summer Scholarships, across the subject areas of Biochemistry, Chemistry, Genetics, Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics, Plant Sciences and Statistics, tenable over the 2018/19 summer.
The value of each Scholarship is $6,000 (non-taxable).
These Scholarships are available to Massey University students majoring in any of the above subject areas who wish to undertake research work under the supervision of a member of the Institute staff. Students may be either undergraduate (with anticipated completion of at least 200-level in their majoring subject(s) by the end of 2018) or have recently completed the requirements for an appropriate Bachelor or Postgraduate degree. The tenure of each Scholarship will be for a minimum of ten weeks, the commencement date in 2018 to be negotiated with the successful applicant, and will terminate before the start of Semester 1, 2019.
The successful applicant is required to submit a report of their research to their supervisor at the conclusion of their Scholarship.
Students should complete the cover sheet and provide a letter of application in which they identify:
-the degree and majoring subject(s) in which they are enrolled (or have recently completed)
-their intended future programme(s) of study, and
-up to three (3) potential supervisors and research topics listed in order of preference.
A brief (two page) curriculum vitae should also be attached.
Applicants for the Institute of Fundamental Sciences Summer Scholarships will also be considered for the John Ayers Summer Scholarship.
A list of available supervisors and topics for the 2018/19 IFS Summer Scholarships is available on request from Mrs Fiona Richmond, IFS Administrator, F.P.Richmond@massey.ac.nz. Students are encouraged to discuss the projects with the researchers concerned.
