Purpose – This award was developed by the Tuia kia Tipu leadership group on the Manawatū campus to encourage the contribution new students can make to campus vibrancy and community connectedness.
Tenure and value – There are five awards available consisting of one payment of $3,000 each which will be used towards semester one university fees. This award is only available for students commencing study in semester one, 2018 on the Massey University Manawatū campus.
Eligibility – open to applications from undergraduate students commencing their first year of full-time study on the Massey University Manawatū campus in semester one, 2018. Eligible students may be domestic or international. Students who accept another scholarship or award for semester one, 2018 will not be eligible for the Tuia kia Tipu Award.
Criteria – On application, students will be asked how they personally could contribute to campus vibrancy on the Manawatū campus and their past experience in contribution to the community. The awards will be granted to the five students whose answers are ranked most highly by the Tuia kia Tipu leadership group. Students need to meet admission criteria for university study.
Responsibility for the Award: The award shall be awarded on the recommendation of the Tuia kia Tipu leadership group.
Selection Committee – The successful applicants for the award will be selected by the Chair (Pro Vice-Chancellor College of Sciences) and members of the Tuia kia Tipu leadership group present at the December meeting. The selection panel has the right to refrain from making an award in the event of there being no suitable applicants of sufficient merit and their decision is final.
Payment – The money will be paid as a credit against study fees in April 2018.
Conditions of the award - The successful applicants will be expected to contribute to campus vibrancy initiatives as outlined in their application and may be called on when available to be involved in various Tuia kia Tipu events throughout semester one, 2018 including two workshops to reflect on their own personal growth and contribution to the campus.
