These scholarships have been established under the terms of the Will of the late Johannes August Anderson.
1.There shall be two classes of scholarships.
a) PhD Scholarships: Candidates must be enrolled full-time for a PhD degree in one of the Applied Academic Programme disciplines relevant to agriculture or horticulture (paper prefix of 111, 112, 117, 119, 138, 171, 188, 189, 238 or 239) at Massey University. The scholarships shall be awarded annually as funds permit provided that applications are of sufficient academic merit. The award shall be up to $3,000 per annum.
(b) Postgraduate Scholarships: Candidates must be enrolled full-time for a postgraduate degree or a postgraduate diploma in an Applied Academic Programme discipline relevant to agriculture or horticulture (see above) at Massey University. The scholarships shall be awarded annually as funds permit provided that applications are of sufficient academic merit. The award shall be up to $3,000 per annum.
2.The scholarships shall be awarded on the recommendation of the Applied Academic Programmes Scholarships Committee and shall be based on the candidate's academic attainment.
3.In recommending the award of scholarships the Applied Academic Programmes Scholarships Committee shall take account of other scholarships and bursaries held with a view to achieving a reasonable distribution of monies among qualifying candidates.
4.Payment is made in May.
5.At the discretion of the University all, or part, of the annual interest may be reinvested in order to maintain the value of the capital fund.
6.The Applied Academic Programmes Scholarships Committee may withdraw or suspend an award at any time if the recipient fails to make satisfactory academic progress.
7.For postgraduate candidates, applications close with the Scholarships Office on 10 March in the year in which the award is to be made. For PhD candidates, applications close on 10 March in the year in which the award is to be made.

All applications are acknowledged by email.
Applications will NOT be accepted more than 3 months in advance of the closing date.
Application cannot be accepted before 10/12/2018.
