This research grant has been made available by Turners and Growers Limited to encourage research by students and staff which may improve the quality of fruit, vegetables and flowers being produced for both the local and export markets. Projects involving studies on plant health, clonal selection, plant breeding and improvement of quality of horticultural crops would be most appropriate.
1.The annual value of the grant(s) shall shall have a value determined each year from the interest earned on the capital.
2.The grant(s) shall normally be made annually by the Applied Academic Programmes Scholarships Committee, though this committee shall have discretion in determining the frequency of the award.
3.Grants shall be available to staff or full-time postgraduate candidates enrolled in Applied Academic Programme disciplines relevant to agriculture or horticulture (paper prefix of 111, 112, 117, 119, 138, 171, 188, 189, 238 and 239) at Massey University.
4.Recommendations for a grant shall be based on the candidate's academic attainment and potential to meet the research objective.
5.Applications close on the 10 March in the year in which the award is to be made. Application forms (ASSC.3) can be downloaded at the bottom of this page. Completed applications are to be sent to Dr Kerry Harrington, K.Harrington@massey.ac.nz. Alternatively, hard copy applications can be delivered to Dr Kerry Harrington’s office AH 302.
