In 2004 Massey University established a scholarship fund to assist students enrolled in a degree at Massey University, to complete part of their studies at an overseas academic institution, with which an exchange agreement exists.
1.Scholarships close on 1 August for study commencing in Semester One of the following year, and 1 October for study commencing in Semester Two of the following year.
2.Each scholarship shall have a value of up to $2,000.
3.Applicants must be enrolled in a degree programme at Massey University.
4.Candidates must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents.
5.Applicants must be intending to enrol in a minimum of 60 credits (or equivalent) full time study at the overseas host institution.
6.The scholarship shall be awarded on academic merit, personal suitability and referees report for the exchange programme, and subject to course approval by the Academic Director in the College offering the candidate's qualification. Short listed candidates will be interviewed by the Student Exchange selection committee.
7.In recommending the award of the scholarship to the Scholarships Committee, the Selection Committee will take account of other scholarships and bursaries held by the applicant with a view to achieving a reasonable distribution of available monies among qualifying candidates. Applicants may hold other scholarships and bursaries provided the rules applicable to the other scholarship or bursary permit the recipient to hold another scholarship or bursary. However, applicants may not hold this Travel Grant as well as a Massey College study award grant for exchange.
8.The Travel Grant Selection Committee shall be:
University International Director, or nominee;
University Student Mobility Manager, or nominee;
9.Applications will only be accepted from students who wish to study at a University with which Massey University holds an Exchange agreement.
10.Recipients are expected at all times to be good ambassadors for Massey University and New Zealand, and support the formal agreement between Massey University and the host institution.
11.The scholarship monies shall be paid in one instalment no more than six weeks prior to commencement of studies at the overseas institution.
12.Applicants who are successful in receiving a scholarship will be responsible for arranging their study visa.
13.The Selection Committee may refrain from making an award in the event of there being no suitable applicants.
14.Applications close with the International Office, on 1 August or 1 October. Application is made by completing the Student Exchange application form, or by request at the International Office in Palmerston North or Massey Contact at Auckland or Wellington.
