Dr Margo van den Berg PhD

Lecturer

Doctoral Co-Supervisor
School of Health Sciences

Margo is a lecturer at the Sleep/Wake Research Centre within the School of Health Sciences. After completing her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at Victoria University of Wellington, she joined the Sleep/Wake Research Centre in 2001, while at the same time gaining shift work experience as a Sleep Technician at Otago University’s WellSleep clinic.

Since then, Margo has worked on numerous research projects that have focused on sleep, fatigue and performance in applied settings, such as aviation. She completed her PhD in 2019 which focused on evaluating the current status and future needs of Fatigue Risk Management Systems (FRMS) for Cabin crew, using a mixed methods approach.

She has a particular interest in the effects of shift work on fatigue, and fatigue risk management as a whole of life issue.
