I am the weed science specialist at Massey University. As well as teaching aspects of weed biology, identification and control to undergraduate students, both in internal and distance learning papers, I also supervise a number of postgraduate students each year and undertake my own research. My main undergraduate paper is 283.311 Controlling Weeds, which is available both internally and for distance learning. I host a web-site on weed identification and control (http://weeds.massey.ac.nz). I also give advice on scholarships for agricultural and horticultural students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels as I chair the committee involved with adminstering these. I am currently also the secretary of the Council of Australiasian Weed Societies.
Senior Lecturer in Weed Science, involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in weed biology and control, and also actively involved in research and extension about weed control.
A wide range of weed science topics have been studied in recent years, including herbicide resistance, weed control in organic dairy pastures, use of ground covers for urban weed control, wiper applicators for pasture weed control, control of broom in forests, controlling environmental weeds such as Madeira vine and great bindweed, and controlling pasture weeds with goats.

I have expertise in weed biology and control across a wide range of sectors, including pastures, cropping, fruit production and turf. Quite a bit of my work in the past has focused on managing herbicide resistance problems and I am chairman of a group of people devising herbicide resistance management strategies for New Zealand.
Apart from my specialist paper, 283.311 Controlling Weeds, I teach into a number of agricultural and plant protection papers where I offer modules on weed biology and control.
