Dr. Kan Tsui is a senior lecturer at the School of Aviation, Massey University. He obtained PhD in Aviation at Massey University in 2013, and worked with University of South Australia between 2013 and 2014. In terms of the employment in the aviation industry, he has worked in Hong Kong’s aviation industry (major airlines and Hong Kong International Airport) for more than five years.
He has published 20 papers in aviation and air transport, tourism, and economics journals. Six (7) of my papers have been published in Tourism Management (4), Journal of Travel Research (1), and Urban Studies (2) - an A* grade journal (ABDC list) and one of A* papers (Tourism Management) is my solo-authored research. In addition, he has been the principal investigator for three (3) research projects and has provided advisory services to Hong Kong government. He acts the reviewer for nine (9) journals (Tourism Management, Journal of Air Transport Management, Transportation Research Part E: (Logistics and Transportation review), Tourism Management Perspectives, New Zealand Economic Papers, Transportmetrica A: Transport Science, the Annuals of Regional Science, Transport Policy, and Journal of Destination Marketing & Management). Also, he has attended international aviation, tourism, logistics, and economic conferences.
Currently, his research involves development and application of state-of-the-art techniques and methodology to investigate and analyse the contemporary issues related to air transport industry (airlines and airports) and the dynamics of air transport policy, and tourism. He is actively involving PhD and Master research supervision and looking to grow the cohort of PhD and Master students to research air transport, tourism and other-related issues.
I have a strong interest in exploring the dynamics of the air transport industry and the tourism sector in the Asia-Pacific region, particularly:
airline and airport demand forecasting
the development of airline and airport networks and global airline strategic alliances
airport productivity and efficiency
the air transport regulatory environments
future tourism activities and trends and its relationship with air transport industry
