Dr Gina Salapata PhD

Senior Lecturer in Classical Studies

School of Humanities

Born and raised in Greece, I have been at Massey since 1995.

My research revolves around Greek art, archaeology and religion, combining two current trends:

(1) the focus on ordinary and inexpensive offerings, which can reveal a great deal of information not only about the nature and characteristics of the divine recipient, but also about the lives, practices and beliefs of the average worshippers.

(2) the interest in the study of religious practices of regions of Greece other than more dominant artistic centres like Athens.
