School of People, Environment and Planning

I'm a geographer with a broad background in geospatial science applications addressing human-environment interactions. Prior to coming to Massey in 2017 I was Senior Lecturer at the University of the South Pacific (USP) in Suva, Fiji.  My research focuses on geospatial applications in public health, urban ecology, disaster risk assessment, and traditional ecological knowledge in Pacific island countries (PICs).  I maintain connections with USP as adjunct Senior Lecturer and continue supervision of postgraduate students in Fiji.  Since 2018 I've been working with colleagues from Fiji and Japan on a project mapping linguisitc variations of Fijian communalects. From 1999-2010 I was Associate Director at the Remote Sensing/GIS Laboratory at Utah State University where my research focused on large area remote-sensing based mapping for biodiversity conservation, and the effects of urban sprawl on water resources in arid urban environments.
