International Student testimonials about studying at Massey University

Murtada Al Nasser Student name: Murtada Al Nasser
From: Saudi Arabia
Programme studied: English Language
Massey campus: Palmerston North

Murtada came to Massey University to study English Language on the Palmerston North campus, before entering the Bachelor of Nursing programme.

"My friend was studying at Massey University and said that I should come to NZ because it is a safe place to live with no discrimination and that Massey University was a very good University to study in."

Murtada strongly encourages other Saudi students to come to study at Massey University because of the excellent level of support they will receive from the staff at the University and the peaceful lifestyle.

"I also really appreciate Massey University because my Saudi friends and I can follow our culture and religion by being able to pray at the prayer room at the English Language Centre, and we are given time off classes on Fridays to go to the Mosque to pray. That is very important."

Yi Ran Ji Student Name: Yi Ran Ji
From: China
Programme studied: Certificate of Attendance in General English, followed by Bachelor of Food Technology
Massey campus: Palmerston North

Yi Ran and her twin sister came to Palmerston North, New Zealand from the city of Xuzhou in eastern China. Yi Ran enrolled to study at the Massey University Centre for University Preparation and English Language for one year, prior to gaining entrance in to Massey's Bachelor of Food Technology. "Food Technology is a challenging and exciting degree but one that demands dedication and application - however the rewards are well worth it. I have enjoyed the mixture of research and applied learning this degree has provided me"

As Yi Ran progressed to 3rd and 4th year she has found the degree has become progressively more interesting and job specific, to the extent that Yi Ran has already been offered a full time permanent job at New Zealand’s largest international company Fonterra! This job was offered to Yi Ran even before she has completed her final year at Massey, and demonstrates the focus on applied teaching that Massey University prides itself on.

Luis Ernesto Bulla Bernal Student name: Luis Ernesto Bulla Bernal
From: Colombia
Programme studied: Certificate of Attendance in General English
Massey campus: Auckland

Luis chose to study in New Zealand because he had heard that it was a very beautiful country with an excellent education system. When he undertook research in to New Zealand universities, he was especially attracted to Massey University because of its international ranking. Luis is finding his English classes very useful, he "is learning a lot and the small class sizes are an advantage as there are no more than 10 students per class". On completing his English language course, Luis is planning to enrol in a Postgraduate Diploma of Business (Marketing) at Massey.
