  • Review some of the challenges and opportunities facing New Zealand businesses locally and internationally.
  • Apply these factors to your own business
  • Look ahead at future trends and forces
  • Identify the best reactions for your company

Module 2: Understanding people 

  • Understand your self, your personality type and the personalities of others
  • Build the skill to align others to a single vision and purpose
  • Build a high-performing working environment
  • Interpret a personal EQI psychometric report

Module 3: Marketing fundamentals 

  • Understand what marketing is and why it is important to the success of a company
  • Appreciate the importance of the customer and customer centricity in product design
  • Segment the market, identify profitable targets and position your products in a way that attracts the most willing buyers

Module 4: Brand management

  • Why a brand is not a logo
  • How to define the essence of a business and how to project that essence
  • How to build brand equity
  • Understand the different requirements of FMCG, services and B2B branding

Module 5: Key financial reports

  • Read key financial reports including balance sheet, profit and loss account and cash flow statement.
  • Interpret the message contained in the reports and identify the most appropriate range of actions.
  • Understand the factors that influence management decision making.

Module 6: Finance in practice 

  • Identify key trends in the business by looking at performance reports
  • Influence the financial elements of the business 
  • Experience a real trading floor to understand how business decisions impact on a company’s share performance

Module 7: Strategy

  • Analyse the business environment to determine a strategy road map
  • Define the company’s vision and mission
  • Allocate resources to achieving the company’s mission
  • Understand strategic innovation

Module 8: Leadership 

  • Moving from managing to leading
  • Understand the necessity to communicate authentically and with integrity
  • Transformational leadership and how to manage change

Module 9: An overview of some key topics in New Zealand’s business future

  • Short presentations by experts around a selection of key issues which are likely to affect New Zealand businesses in the future

Module 10: Personal pathways to the future

  • A summary of personal insight from the course
  • How these insights will influence your choices and how to plan your future

Module 11: Integrating case study 

  • Throughout the programme participants work on a case study that integrates all their learning and illustrates how the various functions of a business fit together
  • Participants present the finding of their cases to their colleagues and to a panel of experts
