Using neuroscience to become a better leader

This workshop will use neuroscience to investigate aspects of leadership, engaging your workforce and managing change and transition.

Key issues addressed include:

  • Neuroscience of Followership – what skills do you need to develop to attract followers?
  • Neuroscience of leadership – what leadership style are you practicing and is this the one you need?
  • Hot and Cold Decision Making in the Brain – what differs when we have to make decisions quickly or with high risk of mistakes?  Can we get better at this?
  • Neuroscience of motivation – what motivates people to stay in a company and how can you generate these experiences in the workplace?
  • Neuroscience of demotivation – what causes people to become so demotivated that they change jobs and how can you prevent this?
  • Emotion and goal contagion

Full day workshop, 6 SEPTEMBER 2017, AUCKLAND

Neuroscience and the emotions of change

The brain is an organ of change which has evolved to allow us to adapt to new environments. And yet, change is often difficult whether at the individual, team or organisational level.  In this workshop, we will explore how individuals respond emotionally to change and how we can use this knowledge to help drive more effective change.

Key issues addressed include:

  • Understanding the relation between brain and behaviour change
  • Knowing the possible emotional responses to change and how to evoke these
  • Using this knowledge to design more effective change processes

Using neuroscience to motivate yourself and others

Why is it that, despite intending to do something differently, we can find it difficult to commit to action?  What is the gap between intention and action?  In this workshop we will explore the neuroscience of motivation, demotivation and action to provide deeper understanding of how to move individuals beyond intention and into action.

Key issues addressed include:

  • Understanding what motivates and demotivates us and how can we use this knowledge to drive strong intentions to change
  • Knowing what makes action more difficult to achieve than intention
  • Developing effective strategies to overcome this
