Dr Jenny Zhengye Hou PhD (strategic public relations)

Senior Lecturer

School of Communication, Journalism and Marketing

I was awarded a PhD in Strategic Public Relations by University of Queensland in Australia. My research interest revolves around institutional sociology, public relations and strategic communication. I'm particularly looking at how public relations as a socially constructed field by a range of institutional actors (e.g., business organizations, professional consultancies, media, government) influence and are influenced by the tension between marketization and authoritarianism in emerging economies. I published in peer-reviewed international journals such as Public Relations Review, Journal of Business & Technical Communication, PRism and Organization Science. I was awarded Public Relations Educator Fellow by the Plank Centre for Leadership in Public Relations in 2017, European Commission Erasmus+ Scholarship in 2016, Young Visiting Scholar by Cambridge University in 2012, University of Barcelona in 2012 and Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2010. I'm currently serving on the editorial board of Journal of Business & Management, Anthropology and Sociology, and PRism
