Dr Grant Hannis co-ordinates the Master of Journalism programme at Massey University in Wellington, where he teaches, among other things, news writing, statistics for journalists and journalism history. He is the editor of New Zealand's standard journalism textbook, Intro, and has published research on reporting on diversity, journalism history and journalism education. As a Fulbright Senior Scholar, he spent six months in the United States in 2010 researching and teaching journalism at San Francisco State University. He was a financial journalist for 14 years at Consumer magazine, and latterly managed the writing staff at the magazine.
