I started in my current role as Communications Advisor at EQC in Wellington in November 2011, just after completing my final two papers of the GDipBusAdmin in Communication Management at Massey.

I took my first four papers of the GDipBusAdmin in semester 1, 2010, and chose to do these extramurally whilst I was working full-time in a Communications Assistant role. I was really enjoying the Communications field and hoped the study would help me to know and understand more, and to potentially further my career down the line.

Throughout my study I was really lucky to be awarded a number of ‘Top Student’ awards, which was great – it was really nice to be recognised for my hard work.

In my current Comms Advisor role I am involved in lots of things –internal and external newsletters, brochures, guides, media releases, websites, intranet, social media, media monitoring and events, as well as supporting my team with wider communications strategy and planning – and I get to work with a huge range of people both inside and outside the organisation. I work mostly in our Wellington office, but travel to our Christchurch office occasionally when I need to be down there for something.
