One News reporter, Television New Zealand
I am a reporter for the 6pm news at TVNZ. Before that I worked at Radio New Zealand and at a regional television station.
I chose Massey because the course was practical with lots of hands-on experience. The course requires you to publish a portfolio of stories, which shows the industry you can do the job.
I also liked the way the course is based in Wellington, the seat of government, and that it teaches all the media platforms, not just print.
My advice to students would be to take advantage of all the opportunities the course offers you. Doing the course’s work experience, as well as voluntary work experience, help you make contacts in the industry. This means that when you put your CV in, they can put a face to the name.
