To do my postgraduate studies, I was looking at the three Universities in Auckland that were offering the program that I wanted to do.

Initially, I was leaning more towards choosing the University of Auckland to do my postgraduate studies, as I was told that the institution was more widely recognized. In the end, Massey University was the obvious choice as it was located on the North Shore leading to much lower accommodation and transport costs allowing me to focus more time on my studies.

Massey University also had a lot of distance learning courses which is something that I found useful which allowed me to study at my own time and pace. I also liked that at Massey University, the class sizes were reasonable allowing for some interesting interactions and discussions with the lecturers.

In the second year of the Masters Program, I was able to conduct a project that involved a large amount of independent research with support available when needed. The research project gave me some very useful project management skills.

I graduated with a Masters of Management in Marketing in 2012 and found a job soon after as a 'Key Account Manager' for one of the largest car distributors in Europe, supporting 50 car dealerships in Switzerland. Since then I have moved on to become a Business teacher in China.

Essentially, having a Masters of Management has given me a great advantage as it set me apart from other candidates getting me the position that I wanted, without having had a lot of work experience.
