“Massey was an awesome university when it came to extending my degree further and pursuing postgraduate studies...”
“The biggest draw card to attend Massey was the smaller class sizes in comparison to other universities around NZ. Coming from a small school I was hesitant about being ‘just another number’ at other universities where there were hundreds of students in one class.
I wanted to complete a double degree in Science and Business and everything was so. At Massey, I walked in and had a one-on-one consultation with an academic advisor who planned my entire first year of subjects. Everyone was so helpful, helping me coordinate my double degree programme without hassle.
What I specifically liked about Massey was the relationships I formed with my lecturers and Professors. All my lecturers were extremely approachable, provided a lot of advice and guidance and were genuinely interested in my success. The lecturers in the marketing department were particularly charismatic and down to earth and so up to date with providing real life, relevant marketing examples. Having these strong relationships with lecturers really encouraged me to pursue further postgraduate study.
If you want to get involved in student life, Massey is a great place to do so. Being a smaller university enables you to get to know lots of students, outside of those who are in your classes. After my 5 years studying at Massey, I have built up a strong social network and I’m in regular contact with lots of students.
In addition to the vast array of social activities, Massey provides a large number of scholarships and academic training programs. I was so fortunate to receive an Undergraduate Exchange Scholarship, which allowed me to study 6 months in Canada. That was an awesome experience, seeing how other universities teach and getting different perspectives on the same subject areas I was studying in NZ. Other activities such as the Boston Consulting Group Case Competition were so challenging and rewarding, working with top students from other facilities such as engineering, design, business and science.
Massey was an awesome university when it came to extending my degree further and pursuing postgraduate studies. I was so fortunate that the marketing department rewarded me with two postgraduate scholarships to help fund my Masters degree, which really allowed me to focus on my studies. My research supervisors gave me so much freedom to research areas that I was particularly interested in and were so supportive helping to guide my thesis to get the best possible results.
Both my undergraduate and postgraduate degrees really gave me a strong platform of sound marketing knowledge, combined with lots of practical examples from lecturers who were really experts in their field. The exposure I had to different aspects of student life such as business competitions, overseas exchanges, combined with the support from my lecturers and financial scholarships have really helped me get to where I am today.”
