Project Title: Social Media: Best Practices in Innovative Businesses

Social media (SM) is a relatively new business tool with many large businesses incorporating it into their marketing plan. In contrast the uptake by SMEs has been relatively slow. However some of the small craft brewing businesses and boutique wineries have enthusiastically adopted social media tools such as blogs,Twitter and Facebook. Using indepth interviews this research will investigate whether social media has been aligned to the strategic objectives of these innovative businesses, how the owners perceive and manage risk, and how they measure whether their investment has been successful.
