Visual and Material Culture

Visual and Material Culture papers comprise a number of fields of study. They emphasise an interdisciplinary approach that seeks to develop new perspectives between people and things in the images and objects that shape everyday life.

These fields of study focus on the belief that the visual and material are essential dimensions in understanding social existence.

The papers offered by the School of Visual and Material Culture engage with: beliefs and emotions, value systems, concepts of space and perception, self definition and self recognition, artifacts, consumption and exchange, and symbolic systems. The papers span the four years of study in the College of Creative Arts and form an ideal pathway for postgraduate qualifications.
