Maori culture at the College of Creative Arts

Maori achievement in teaching learning and research is one of the defining characteristics in the College of Creative Arts. Its further development is outlined in our Maori Achievement Plan.

The College is committed to excellent outcomes for Maori communities, students and staff. It recognises that Maori communities are distinct and different in their aspirations and development pathways. Engaging with Maori provides a solid foundation to develop resources, programmes and research opportunities that have relevance to Maori, the creative industries and to New Zealand.

College support of Maori centred events has led to Maori initiatives such as Iwi Creativity. Investment in Toi Maori research and creative practice adds a unique dimension to the College’s contribution to society.
