Give to the College of Education
Transforming education through innovation in teaching, learning and research to lead change in social, cultural, economic and political spheres of national and international life.
The mission of the College of Education is to be the outstanding research-led College of Education in Aotearoa/New Zealand, demonstrated by our:
- graduates being preferred and highly respected;
- research making a prominent contribution to theory, practice and policy development in New Zealand and overseas; and
- expertise being preferred and highly respected in terms of school and centre-based, research-led professional development.
The College offers a full complement of innovative, research-based qualifications and professional development programmes that enhance the skills and knowledge of an up-to-date practitioner and leader.
The support of alumni, friends, companies and charitable foundations helps us to achieve our mission by ensuring that we can afford scholarships for the brightest and best students, enhanced facilities and provide the finest research and teaching staff.
Donations to the College fund are made through the Massey Foundation, a registered charity, which means they are tax deductible and that they are invested and managed by a professional team. The operating costs of the Foundation are fully met by the University, which means that 100% of your donation is used for the projects you nominate. To read more about the Foundation click here.
College of Education Development Fund
The College of Education Development Fund has been established to allow alumni and friends to give to the College. Donations create additional research and scholarship opportunities to enhance links between the university, education profession and learners, both domestically and internationally.
Each year the Pro Vice-Chancellor of the College submits a plan to spend the fund on a chosen strategic imperative (that could not otherwise be funded from core funding) or chooses to endow the funds for future use. The Massey University Foundation Board must approve the expenditure plan before any money is released.
Currently the College would like additional funding to support its strategic goals:
- Ongoing pursuit of excellence in research, teaching, and school/centre-based professional development with a primary focus on developing learning environments that are research-led, pertinent to the needs of students and professionals and responsive to issues of social justice.
- Development of Maori-relevant programmes that contribute to Maori development aspirations.
- Development of a culture that is internationally aware and that values an international profile, but is nationally relevant in its contribution to the social, culture and economic development of our country.
- Provision of programmes that are accessible to all people who have the abilities to benefit from a university education.
- Challenging students to attain excellence in their own learning and, in turn, to make contributions to their own communities and fields of endeavour.
In particular the College would like to receive funds to support (postgraduate scholarships in Literacy Education, Mathematics Education and Inclusive Education.
