Facilities – Human Nutrition

The Human Nutrition and Dietetics Division has a range of facilities available for study and research. They enable quantification of the components in the bodies of test subjects.

Body Composition Clinic

Each quarter the Albany campus hold a body composition clinic for use of both the DXA and the Bodpod for body composition analysis.

At the clinic the price for either method is $60. Each appointment is 30 minutes in duration and includes a full results interpretation.

DXA machines

DXA machine

The DXA (dual energy x-ray absorptiometry) machines quantify the mineral content of bones structures, as well as fat and non-bone body mass.

Bod Pods

Massey has the only two air-displacement plethysmography units (Bod Pods) in New Zealand. They calculate fat and lean muscle mass.
