Nursing Entry to Practice (NET-P) role, Taranaki District Health Board
I decided to study nursing at Massey University due to its stellar reputation throughout New Zealand and abroad. Massey’s programme is thorough, rigorous and robust. This excited me as I wanted the right education to shape me into the very best nurse I can be. In our first year, the programme provided a foundational knowledge base to underpin our developing understanding of more complex nursing principles. The lecturers are world-class, some who are leaders in their own field. As students, we gained access to the best nursing education.
Studying nursing at Massey University allowed me to ground my theoretical knowledge in clinical practice settings – all while making life-long friends. The nursing class moves through the programme as one cohort, which means you get to know your classmates extremely well. We were supportive of one another, encouraging and assisting one another through study sessions, assignments, tests, examinations and clinical practice. The bonds and connections you make with your fellow students and lecturers will truly last a lifetime.
I feel incredibly blessed to have been offered a Nursing Entry to Practice (NET-P) role at Taranaki District Health Board working on the surgical ward. Massey University thoroughly prepared me to enter the workforce as a registered nurse. The programme entailed working on nursing resumes, cover letters, interview preparation and compiling a nursing portfolio, which helped secure my NET-P position. Due to the diversity of clinical practice settings during my nursing studies, I gained the necessary clinical experience to practice as a registered nurse. I would thoroughly recommend Massey University’s nursing programme to anyone who considering a career in nursing.
Nursing is truly a rewarding and honourable career, which can lead to many different opportunities across the world or within a variety of specialised practice areas. I feel blessed and honoured to be in a position where I am trusted with the care, consideration and advocacy of individuals and groups who need it the most. Nursing changes the way you see the world and other people. Nursing is more than just a job. It is a life-changing vocation that will challenge and reward you for the rest of your life.
