New Zealand agribusiness is international agribusiness by default. Over 90% of our production is exported, from bulk commodities to refined, branded products. Massey University delivers research and education across the broad spectrum of skills and knowledge that this global focus requires.
Massey has been known for its expertise in agriculture since it was founded as an agricultural college ninety years ago - our campus near the city of Palmerston North still includes extensive farms.
Today we are a leader in worldwide farm and agribusiness strategy. Our close connection and understanding of global players in the food and fibre markets enhances our applied management research, case study development and teaching.
Massey maintains strong international connections with other universities in the top 20 and regularly contributes to the International Food & Agribusiness Association journal – the top agribusiness journal in the world. Our case study was chosen for the student case study competition in Shanghai in 2012. Published research by the Massey agribusiness team is global in its focus - for example Chinese farmer co-operatives, smallholders and the agrifood chain in Zambia, the wine supply chain in America and risk in the global food market.
Our teaching is research-informed, using multiple forms of teaching media to enable students to learn both via distance learning and on-campus.
Our broad expertise means you will be able to add to your core agribusiness paper with learning in your particular area of interest.
Study offerings include science, food technology and agricultural production papers; applied management areas (farm management, agribusiness, supply chain & logistics, quality management, life cycle management) and generic business papers.
This breadth of choice enables you to find the mix of papers that best meets your background and future needs. We offer the following postgraduate programmes:
For both the diploma and the masters programme you take the core paper, Advanced Food and Agribusiness Strategies (112748) and for masters you also take a research methods paper. The other agribusiness papers include 112702 and 112743.
