Bachelor of Veterinary Technology (2013)
Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Technologist

The best things about Massey vet school are the inspiring lecturers and the exposure to high animal caseloads through the vet teaching hospital.

My love for helping animals is what brought me to Massey University from Otumoetai College in Tauranga. I chose the Bachelor of Veterinary Technology because the three year science-based degree was well aligned with my passion for animals.

The chance to study papers with vet students and work alongside them in the clinic was great and I made lifelong friends. The course was demanding but totally worth the hard work. During my study I gained plenty of work experience; ranging from working in a zoo through to artificial insemination certification and farming experience during spring.

After graduating I did a three-month summer research scholarship in animal nutrition. More recently, I’ve completed my silver certification in low stress animal behaviour and I have also travelled to Ecuador to volunteer with the travelling animal doctors. My long-term goal is to work in the UK in a small animal emergency referral clinic.
