Ergonomics Intern student from Finland

CErgOSH welcomes international Ergonomics Intern student Hannele Lahti from Finland, who will be joining the School of Public Health from February to July 2017.

Hannele Lahti has a first degree in Physiotherapy and is currently completing her Bachelor of Health Sciences in Public Health at the University of Eastern Finland (UEF), specialising in Ergonomics. Yes - they have an ergonomics specialisation as part of their undergrad and postgrad PH qualification in Finland. She has been accepted into the UEF Masters in Public Health programme. The Internship is part of the UEF Masters programme, somewhat like our professional practice courses will be. Hannele also teaches Pilates.

Under supervision by Stephen Legg (Professor of Ergonomics), her internship will comprise completion of her BSc thesis (a literature review) and conducting an Internship project in conjunction with Dr Kirsten Olsen (Senior Lecturer in Occupational Health and Safety), Mark Lidegaard (PhD Scholar) and Stephen Legg on barriers to uptake of national health guidelines (for moving and handling of people). This will supplement Mark’s PhD research and compement Kirsten’s ACC research project on the same topic. She will also sit in (to learn!) and assist Stephen with delivery of ergonomics courses.

It is great to welcome Hannele as a new member of the School.
