Should the Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (GradDipOHS) be internationalised?

A recent report considered whether the Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (GradDipOHS) should be internationalised. Prominent amongst its recommendations were:

  • Establish an online (distance mode) PGDipOSH and an MOSH to attract international students. Adopt an entirely ‘online’ mode.
  • International students probably prefer a degree that articulates into a PGDip and Masters
  • Keep cost low (for international students)
  • Expand collaboration with universities from both Developed and Developing countries, such as transfer students or dual degrees
  • Have a marketing strategy that emphasises IOSH Accreditation
  • Strengthen accreditation credentials. Obtain accreditation with the Australian OHS Education Accreditation Board
  • Adjust the curriculum content to accommodate international students (e.g. add and international OSH legislation focus; add greater sociocultural and small business focus; rename OSH 1 and OSH 2 courses to better reflect their content)
