Allan Gibson Accountancy Scholarship
This undergraduate scholarship was established by the late Allan R Gibson in 1980 to provide a scholarship to deserving accountancy students.
Consideration will be given to students who may be experiencing hardship while studying. Students are required to answer a set of questions to help with the selection process.
Two scholarships may be awarded annually and shall have an annual value of $1,000.
The scholarship will be known as the Allan Gibson Accountancy Scholarship.
The scholarship shall be tenable for one year.
The object of the awards is to encourage students wishing to become Chartered Accountants, and with an interest in rural, agricultural and/or agri-food industries, to complete their accountancy qualification through Massey University.
The scholarships shall be awarded on the recommendation of a selection committee comprising the Head of School of Accountancy, a member of the School of Accountancy, and the University Registrar (or nominee).
In making its recommendation the selection committee will have regard to the objectives of the award, and in particular:
a) the student’s academic performance;
b) the student’s stated interest in and contribution to rural, agricultural and/or agri-food industries on completion of studies; and
c) the student’s statement of value the scholarship will add to their prospects of successful completion of their qualification.
Students eligible for the award will be those in their second or third year of study toward an accountancy qualification at Massey University.
